John, this email is a bit on the longer side, but I’d be grateful if you took a moment to read the whole thing. Then, I hope you’ll chip in a few bucks to support this grassroots team as we prepare for some tough battles in the months and years ahead. Any amount makes a difference.
I wanted to take a moment to talk about how we won in 2022 and why that campaign was truly different.
John, I knew that if we wanted to win a statewide race here in Pennsylvania, politics as usual wouldn’t cut it. And with the election happening just months after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the stakes were unbelievably high. Falling short was not an option.
So what did we do? We built a campaign that was focused on bringing folks together, instead of dividing us up. And we showed up everywhere.
Throughout the campaign, we traveled to big cities and small towns alike, meeting Pennsylvanians at their homes, their union halls, their places of worship, and their local small businesses. We laid out a vision for our Commonwealth that united folks from all walks of life and all political parties.
That vision? Defend Pennsylvanians’ real freedom. Put more money in families’ pockets. Speed up our government. Treat everyone with respect. Get sh*t done.
And John, that vision didn’t only help us win a record number of votes. It helped us win in communities where Democrats had not come close to winning in a long, long time. We proved that if Democrats show up, fight for every vote, and listen to the good people of Pennsylvania, we can win in urban, suburban, and rural areas alike.
And most importantly, we accurately laid out the stakes of that election. We asked voters whether they wanted to live in a Commonwealth defined by extremism or common sense — and John, common sense won.
By ignoring petty partisanship, finding common ground, and never compromising on our shared values, we’ve made so much progress together over the last two years. And just as I knew I could count on you in 2022, I hope I can count on your support now as we keep fighting to move Pennsylvania forward. That’s why I’m asking: will you chip in $5 or more right now to power Team Shapiro?
