Email from Rep. McCaul President Trump Pursues Peace and Prosperity In The Middle East With conflict raging on across the Middle East, President Trump announced he plans to travel to the region next week to convene a Gulf States summit, with hopes of discussing a variety of topics, including a solution to the ongoing war in Gaza. This critical meeting comes on the cusp of the president’s announcement of a ceasefire between the U.S. and the Houthi rebels, who have continuously attacked U.S. interests in the Red Sea for years. As Chairman Emeritus of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I have been tracking the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East closely, and I met with the King of Jordan this week to hear his thoughts as one of our strongest strategic partners in the region. President’s Trump's trip — which is set to include stops in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates — will provide him with yet another opportunity to continue fighting for peace worldwide, as he has since day one of his administration. I joined Martha MacCallum to talk about regional stability in the Middle East, President Trump’s upcoming trip to the region, and more on Fox News’ The Story: Click to Watch I’ll also join Face the Nation this Sunday to discuss these issues more in depth. Protecting Americans During Special Events: Chairing a New Task Force As the United States prepares to host a number of high profile events — including the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the FIFA World Cup in 2026 (held in Houston and Dallas), and the United States' 250th anniversary in 2026 — we must ensure the safety and security of the millions of Americans and international guests alike who will be in attendance. I am proud to announce I have been appointed as chair of the newly established bipartisan, Congressional Task Force on Securing the Homeland Amidst Special Events. While serving as Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, I led investigations into the Boston bombing attack in 2013 and spearheaded the rapid legislative response to the Paris Attacks in 2015. I've also served as chief of counter terrorism and national security in the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Western District of Texas and led the Joint Terrorism Task Force charged with detecting, deterring, and preventing terrorist attacks. With all of this experience working in national security, I look forward to putting my expertise to work on the task force. While these special events like the Olympics provide a unique opportunity to showcase the United States’ global leadership and commitment to excellence, they can also attract increased threats as our adversaries and other malign actors seek to exploit and sabotage them. I’m proud the Homeland Security Committee is addressing these challenges head-on, in close coordination with the administration, to empower all levels of our government, law enforcement, first responders, and other stakeholders to execute events that are spirited, seamless, and — most importantly — safe. Ensuring Economic Prosperity Though the U.S. – U.K. Trade Agreement This week, President Trump announced that the United States and the United Kingdom have reached a trade deal centered around principles of fairness and reciprocity, known as the Economic Prosperity Deal (EPD). This agreement reflects a major milestone for transatlantic trade relations, as the deal will benefit both American and British economies. Specifically, this deal will reduce significant tariffs on British steel and aluminum, remove all tariffs on Aerospace and industrial goods in exchange for purchases on the behalf of the U.K. from Boeing, and include measures to expedite U.S. goods through U.K. customs. Additionally, United States and the United Kingdom have committed to working together to enhance both industrial and agricultural market access. For Texans, this deal provides for 13,000 metric tons of tariff-free beef exports and creates a $5 billion opportunity for new exports as a measure to support our farmers and ranchers. I am very proud that President Trump and Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer came together to develop this incredible plan, and I look forward to seeing more great trade agreements the Trump administration is working secure with many other nations. Promises Made, Promises Kept: Clearing Fentanyl Off Our Streets This week, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced one of the largest drug busts in our nation’s history, in which the Drug Enforcement Administration seized 11.5 kilos of fentanyl powder and nearly 3 million fentanyl pills brought in by the Sinaloa cartel. In the same operation, the DEA seized 35 kilos of methamphetamine, 7.5 of cocaine and 4.5 kilos of heroin — all together, enough to poison and kill millions of Americans. Sixteen individuals with ties to the Sinaloa cartel — including six men in the country illegally — were also arrested in the operation. President Trump promised the American people that he would secure the southern border and put a stop to flow of poison flooding our communities — and he is doing just that. I am so grateful this administration is dedicated to keeping Americans safe and cleaning up our streets. Recognizing Texas-10's Young Talent: Announcing The Winners Of The 2025 Congressional Art Competition Every year, the United States House of Representatives hosts the Congressional Art Competition, in which students from each congressional district may submit their work to their congressman for the chance to have their work displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year and receive two round-trip tickets to Washington D.C. to attend the Winner's celebration. We have so much talent in Texas-10, and choosing the winning artist from our district brings me joy each year. This year, I am proud to announce our first-place winner is Lucy Rees — a junior from Lago Vista High School. Her piece, titled "Cowpoke," beautifully depicts her grandfather as a cowboy with a powerful work ethic and points to family commitment — values at the heart of what it means to be a Texan. Congratulations, Lucy! I look forward to seeing your artwork on display in the Capitol! "Cowpoke" by Lucy Rees Our second-place winner is Madison Szuluk — a senior from College Station High School. Her piece, titled “Booneville’s Blue Symphony,” represents some of our treasured state flowers through a live impressionistic oil painting. Great work, Madison! “Booneville’s Blue Symphony" by Madison Szuluk Our third-place winner is Brianna Hernandez, a 10th grader from Bryan High School. Her acrylic piece, titled “Texas Raised,” captured so many of our state’s key symbols in one painting. Congrats, Brianna! "Texas Raised" by Brianna Hernandez I want to thank all the incredible artists who shared their work with me this year. I am so inspired by the many young, talented artists in my district and I cannot wait to see what Texas-10's youth will bring to the table in 2026! ICYMI: Rep.
