This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating the moms who lead with courage, love, and unwavering commitment to their families and communities—and the many moms who are part of Team Lizzie.
Across Texas and around the country, mothers are doing the hard work of mothering, working, leading, serving and shaping our communities and our future.
Too often, they’re doing it without the support they need and deserve. That’s why Lizzie is fighting every day to stand up for moms—because she knows that supporting mothers means protecting their rights, their health, and their futures.
From ensuring the right to make personal decisions about reproductive health care and to access birth control, to addressing the Black maternal health crisis and the high cost of child care, Lizzie is working to protect the dignity and freedom of every mom in Texas.
But while Lizzie is fighting to move us forward, the Trump administration and Congressional Republicans are trying to take us backward. Next week, they will be taking up a bill that guts maternal health programs so many moms rely on. Throughout this Congress, they have offered proposals eliminating access to reproductive medicine and services and pushing creepy, controlling policies to reward women for having more babies. At the same time, their other proposals do not help them support kids they already have—like Children’s Health Insurance (CHIP) and paid family leave.
Our country already has the highest maternal mortality rate in the developed world, and it’s getting worse.
Moms aren’t asking for medals or bonuses. They are asking for equal rights, access to health care, real economic opportunity, and leaders who respect their decisions and humanity.
Team Lizzie isn’t backing down. Together, we’re standing up for mothers. We’re defending their rights. And we’re building a future where moms—and all of us—can thrive.
