Last week, the Trump Administration announced major cuts to international
funding in the Fiscal Year 2026 budget. This proposal includes cuts to
peacekeeping operations, disaster assistance, and food aid, among many
others.

The administration’s proposed cuts would slash U.S. foreign assistance
programs by more than 80% if they’re approved by Congress, making the U.S.
weaker, less safe, and less prosperous — while devastating communities
around the world.

We
must meet the moment and oppose the Administration’s dangerous FY 2026

Foreign assistance funding saves lives and builds a safer and secure
future for all. It provides lifesaving aid when disasters strike, improves
education and health in crisis zones, spurs economic growth and stability,
and reduces poverty.

And when the world is more stable, the U.S. prospers.

Yet, as many as 305 million people need humanitarian assistance today,
more than twice as many as five years ago. The Trump Administration wants
to implement draconian cuts to the international affairs budget and let
innocent civilians facing hunger, displacement, and poverty perish without
a lifeline.

The
last five years have shown us that challenges — from the pandemic to food
insecurity to war — transcend all borders.
