The law in question allows election workers to accept absentee ballots postmarked by Election Day for up to five days after the election.

In Mississippi and states like it, a majority of rural voters rely on vote-by-mail and early voting. If this law is overturned, voters in these areas who are elderly, disabled, or have no means to travel may face more barriers to having their voices heard on Election Day.

At the end of the day, we should be making it as easy and accessible as possible for all eligible people to cast their vote and participate in our collective civic duty.
