Dear Friend,
My name is Richard, and I’m writing to you not only as a healthcare and social justice advocate but as a father.
My son, William, has endured more than anyone should endure. He’s legally blind and lives with multiple chronic health conditions in part due to a stroke he had in 2019. Earlier this year, he had a serious health crisis and needed to be hospitalized. Once treated and able to leave the hospital, his doctors prescribed a 90 day stay in a rehab facility where he could get follow up treatment to aid in his full recovery.
But UnitedHealthcare keeps saying no to covering the cost of his rehabilitation.
They have now denied our appeals five times while William has been in the Shady Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. These adverse decisions have taken a toll on William and my family. It’s hard not to lose hope, but we’re not giving up.
UHC made $14.4 billion in profit last year. They can afford to help my son. They just choose not to. Their greed is putting his life at risk.
Please sign the petition demanding they stop denying William the care he needs.
