   John,
Congress is considering opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in
Alaska to oil drilling in their latest government funding bill.
If we allow this bill to pass, it would be the largest sellout of public
lands by Congress in modern U.S. history. It would give the fossil fuel
industry free rein over an area larger than Texas and California
   combined.^1
And why? All so Trump can pay for his tax cuts for billionaires. It’s all
part of his “drill baby drill,” profits-over-people agenda — and we won’t
   allow it.
[ [link removed] ]John, will you send an urgent message to Congress today and
demand they reject Arctic drilling in the government funding bill?

If passed, this bill won’t just allow oil and gas leasing in the Arctic
Refuge. It will require it — in the refuge and in other long-protected
places — to help finance needless tax breaks for big corporations and the
   wealthy.
And this bill won’t just unleash one of the largest carbon bombs and lock
us into further climate chaos — though it will.
It will also threaten the health and human rights of the Gwich’in and
Iñupiaq peoples who have called these sacred lands home for centuries.
The Arctic is ground zero for climate change. It’s heating up four times
faster than the rest of the planet. Any drilling here will only accelerate
the crisis — in the Arctic and in the rest of the world.
John, the bottom line is this: This unacceptable attack on the
Arctic Refuge will harm our climate, threaten Indigenous and other local
communities, and spoil one of the last truly wild places on earth — one
that also doubles as an important carbon sink for the rest of the planet.
[ [link removed] ]Don’t let Congress sell out the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to Big
Oil to pay for billionaire tax cuts. Send a message to Congress now.
   With determination,
   Team 350
