Friend, The Root just released incredible numbers on the impact of coronavirus on Black-owned businesses.

40 percent of Black-owned businesses are not expected to survive the coronavirus pandemic.

Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal and other progressives in Congress have sponsored a Paycheck Guarantee Act which would offer workers and all businesses better protections.

However, Richard Neal decided that the proposal was “too complicated” and “too expensive” to include in Democrats' opening offer for the next coronavirus relief bill. Once again proving he’s a roadblock to any real progressive agenda in Congress.

It’s time our Congress stand up for working people and small businesses. Can you make a contribution right now to power our movement to replace complacency with a people’s champion in Congress?

Just this past April, we’ve lost 440,000 Black-owned businesses.

This is the direct result of the poor implementation of the first coronavirus stimulus package that allowed banks to put favored customers ahead, leaving small and minority-owned businesses in the dust.

Neal is reinforcing existing inequities by forcing our government’s response to rely on existing structures like big banks. We need leaders who will fight for our communities and the small businesses who power our local economies. And that means creating transformative solutions, not relying on the status quo.

In Congress Alex will fight for bold, transformative solutions like the Paycheck Guarantee Act. Can you make a contribution right now to get him there?

Our communities deserve better. That’s why we’re taking a stand to dismantle the establishment status quo, one congressional seat at a time. Starting with MA-01.

Let’s do this!
