Dear John,

After enduring years of police investigation and a public trial, a woman accused of an illegal abortion has been found not guilty.
The Guardian reports that ([link removed])

"While the prosecution may be over, Packer, now 45, will be irreparably changed by the ordeal. The most private details of her life were aired in public – her medical history including past terminations, her sexual preferences, a tragic baby loss in her family, and even intimate photographs of her – shown by the defence to the jury to prove that she did not look pregnant."

No woman should ever have to go through this again

At BPAS, we are working closely with MPs to end the threat of police, prosecutions, and imprisonment once and for all, and we anticipate a vote on decriminalising abortion within the next couple of months.

We will be in touch soon with more information. In the meantime, please share the news about this appalling court case as wide as you can. You can also consider making a one-off donation to support our work to defend and extend access to abortion care.
