Aurora is a courageous mother from Chico, California.
And right now, she's standing up to one of the most dangerous threats to parental rights we've ever seen.
Without parental notification or consent, Aurora's 11-year-old daughter was secretly socially transitioned at school -- given a new name, new pronouns, a new "male" identity.
This wasn't a misunderstanding. It was a deliberate policy.
Staff at Chico Unified School District followed official "guidelines" from the California Department of Education instructing them to keep parents in the dark about their own children's gender identity changes.
When Aurora's daughter wanted to talk to her mom, school staff discouraged her. In other words, they conspired to keep 5th grader's gender transition a secret from her own mother.
That's not education. That's state-sanctioned deception. And a blatant violation of parental rights.
Aurora's daughter was just a child -- not even old enough to get her ears pierced without a parent's permission.
And yet she was pushed toward a life-altering identity decision behind her mother's back.
If we let this stand, schools across the country will feel empowered to do the same -- hiding critical decisions from parents and treating loving, concerned moms and dads as obstacles rather than decision-makers in their children’s lives.
That's why Aurora is fighting back, and why the Center for American Liberty is standing with her.
