On Tuesday, May 13, join Alabama farmer Bill Ferguson ([link removed]) and Director of Farm Transitions Angela De Freitas to hear their story in the latest Animal Outlook Town Hall: “Life After Chicken Farming.” Before transitioning, Mr. Ferguson was a life-long chicken farmer for Tyson and Keystone. But with a little help from Animal Outlook, his farm has been completely reenvisioned as a business that grows produce for the local community. Using the very sheds he used to raise thousands of chickens, Mr. Ferguson now produces lettuce for school districts and private businesses across Alabama.

With mounting debt and few opportunities, most chicken farmers are at the mercy of the corporations they’re contracted to. That’s why AO’s Farm Transitions program has become such a critical lifeline for farmers looking for a way out. Armed with legal, financial, and agricultural resources, AO is helping to remove animals from the food system by transforming farms – and communities – into something more sustainable, profitable, and compassionate for everyone.
