Beer distributor H. W. Herrell supports local food pantries

During these uncertain times, H. W. Herrell Distributing Company has made it their top priority to support their local food pantries. The company contributed to multiple Missouri food pantries for a grand total $10,000 donation, saying it was because of the “core community values” Harvey & Irma Herrell instilled in 1923 that still hold true to this day. Read more from their statement.

Center for Alcohol Policy releases new essay addressing COVID-19, recent alcohol de-regulations

Recently, the Center for Alcohol Policy released an essay confronting the wave of alcohol de-regulations around the country as a result of the COVID-19 public health emergency. “Governments had to act quickly when the virus showed up on our doorsteps, but they must now thoughtfully consider the damaging effects that temporary changes to the time-tested laws that govern alcohol regulation will have if permanently codified,” writes Patrick Maroney, the former director of the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division. Stop & Shop and King Kullen call off grocery merger

Stop & Shop and King Kullen recently terminated their merger agreement. “A joint decision was made not to proceed with the acquisition because of significant, unforeseen changes in the marketplace that have emerged since the agreement was signed in December 2018, largely driven by the COVID-19 pandemic,” the companies said in an announcement.
