EMILYs List Statement on Jefferson Griffin Conceding to Justice Allison Riggs in North Carolina State Supreme Court Race

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Yesterday, Jefferson Griffin, the Republican challenger for the North Carolina state Supreme Court seat, conceded to Justice Allison Riggs following a lengthy attempt from Republicans to overturn the November election results and disenfranchise voters. Justice Allison Riggs won her election in November 2024 and her win was confirmed by two separate recounts, but her opponent refused to concede for nearly six months and attempted to throw out 65,000 legitimate votes. EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:

"It's about damn time.

Today, democracy prevailed. Because we didn't back down, Justice Allison Riggs is headed back to North Carolina's state Supreme Court, and the will of the voters was upheld. At a time when Republicans are doing everything in their power to silence us, EMILYs List is fighting for candidates like Justice Allison Riggs who are critical to defending our rights and our democracy."
