This is hard to believe, John, but it shows just how deeply misled some opponents of voting rights are.
Recent reporting shows that "beginning in the 2025-26 school year, thousands of high school students in Oklahoma will be required to learn about President Trump's debunked claims that the 2020 election was tainted by fraud. The lesson will not be part of a course on conspiracy theories, but an official component of the new social studies curriculum created by Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters."
As fanciful as it sounds, here's a direct quote from the curriculum itself. Students will:
"Identify discrepancies in 2020 elections results by looking at graphs and other information, including the sudden halting of ballot-counting in select cities in key battleground states, the security risks of mail-in balloting, sudden batch dumps, an unforeseen record number of voters, and the unprecedented contradiction of “bellwether county” trends."
Is it any wonder why faith and trust in our elections are declining? Opponents of voting rights pulling stunts like this shows why our work is so critical. It's on us to ensure accurate, truthful statements are made about our electoral system -- all while we work to register new voters, activate registered voters, and fight suppressive laws to make sure every vote counts.
Please, we can't afford to let attacks on our elections like this slide. Chip in $25 or whatever you can today and help discredit conspiracy theories about our elections and so much more >>
