Dear John,
Much has been made of President Trump’s “First 100 Days”, and deservedly so, as he has been remarkably aggressive and effective with his executive orders and other executive actions. Some of the highlights include:
✓ Stopping the border invasion, and reducing illegal entry by 99%
✓ Slashing regulations, and requiring 10 to be eliminated for every new 1 that is implemented
✓ Exiting the Paris Climate Accord and unleashing America’s reliable and affordable energy resources
✓ Creating DOGE to identify the massive wasteful spending in Washington
✓ Attacking the SWAMP, firing over 200K federal employees and requiring a return to in-person work
✓ Beginning the process of dismantling the Department of Education
✓ Withdrawing from the CCP-aligned WHO
These are just some of President Trump’s most impressive accomplishments, and they are having an immediate and positive impact.
But it must be repeated again: their impact is only temporary, without legislation by Congress.
Furthermore, Republicans in Washington do not appear serious about addressing the existential threat that is our fiscal crisis: unsustainable spending, the $200 billion monthly deficit, and the more than $36 trillion in national debt.
Republicans have no one to blame but themselves, because with full control of government, they can do ANYTHING THEY WANT to confront the fiscal crisis through budget reconciliation, which does not require 60 votes in the Senate.
Mark it down – If Republicans do not address the fiscal crisis by THIS SUMMER, it will not be addressed during President Trump’s 4-year term.
Next year is the 2026 midterm elections, when members of Congress will grow even more squeamish and become even more focused on self-preservation. After 2026, even if Republicans still control the House, President Trump’s leverage will be diminished by his lame-duck status.
This should motivate Republicans to cut spending and shrink government NOW. The so-called Big Beautiful Bill that is reconciliation cannot merely be focused on tax cuts, increased defense and national security spending, and a totally misguided increase in the debt limit.
Americans must demand that their Republican representatives refuse to miss this opportunity to change our fiscal trajectory NOW. I believe that is also the key to keeping the House in next year’s midterms.
Finally, I want to ask for your help in supporting my efforts to stay in the fight for our country. There aren’t enough courageous conservative voices who are willing to risk everything to save our country.
I am asking you to make a contribution to Good for America today, and help provide me with the resources to keep fighting for you and keep battling the DC SWAMP.
