Last month, Republicans in the House passed their budget, which gives over four trillion dollars in tax cuts to billionaires like Elon Musk. The budget directs Diana's committee, the Energy and Commerce Committee, to find $880 billion in ‘savings’ to fund these tax cuts.

Diana did the math: You can’t cut $880 billion from Energy & Commerce’s jurisdiction without violently slashing Medicaid — no matter what Republicans say.

Here is how these cuts would impact Colorado:

🚩 One in four Coloradans rely on Medicaid through Health First Colorado or the Children's Health Insurance Program for their healthcare needs. Reducing funding will leave many without essential coverage.

🚩 One in five jobs statewide are in the healthcare sector. Cuts to Medicaid would mean up to $4.7 billion in economic losses and a reduction of $1.7 billion in household earnings. This would be catastrophic for our state's economy.

🚩 There are 10 rural hospitals that are already facing the threat of closure, with three in immediate danger. Cutting Medicaid will lead to the almost immediate closure of these facilities.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Diana is taking a stand for Coloradans by fighting to save Medicaid before Republicans have a chance to destroy it. That's why earlier this week, she helped launch an effort to force a vote to protect Medicaid and SNAP from Republican budget cuts.
