I Urged President Trump to Issue Disaster Declaration for the South Texas Rio Grande Valley

Last week, I sent a letter to President Trump and FEMA Acting Administrator, Cameron Hamilton, urging the administration to issue a Presidential Disaster Declaration for the Rio Grande Valley so that South Texas families and business owners that experienced flood damage from  the March 2025 floods storms can receive essential federal assistance.

ImageAnnounced the 2025 Congressional Art Competition Winner!

Congratulations to Sophia C. Acevedo-Gomez, a 12th grade student from Veterans Memorial Early College High School in Brownsville, Texas, for placing first in the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. Acevedo-Gomez’s winning piece, “Unspoken Empathy” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside other district winners from across the country. Thank you to all our participants – it was a tremendous opportunity to witness the artistic talent found in our South Texas students.
