I want you to know: the only funding targeted from this suicide prevention program was money dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ youth.
It’s a targeted attack on the lives of our young people, who already face significantly higher suicide rates than their peers. And it leaves them with one clear message: “Your lives are not worth saving.”
For the last four years, federal funding for LGBTQ+ suicide prevention has been approved by Congress with bipartisan support. These funds made it possible for Trevor to respond to half of the nearly 500,000 requests for help we got last year. Eliminating it from the budget will put hundreds of thousands of LGBTQ+ youth at greater risk of suicide.
Friend, we can’t do this work alone.
That’s why we’ve launched an Emergency Lifeline Campaign. I need your help today to ensure no lives are lost if this funding is eliminated.
