Bad news from DC, John: House Republicans just voted to advance a measure that would rollback California clean air protections.

Republicans have been desperate for ANY way to rollback our progress on cleaner air. They even threatened to withhold federal aid for the Los Angeles wildfires until our clean air protections were repealed.

Now, they have won this initial vote in the U.S. House. That’s why we are asking you to sign our petition calling for the Senate to REJECT this backwards proposal.

The vote to rollback our clean air protections is a victory for fossil fuel interests and a loss for Californians who just want to breathe clean air and live healthy lives.

If the GOP succeeds in rolling back these protections, more people will continue to get sick from exposure to extreme ozone pollution.

This is unconscionable and also a violation of our rights as a state. California Strong Senator, Adam Schiff said it well:

“California’s authority and responsibility to regulate its own pollution is enshrined in federal law and has been repeatedly approved on a bipartisan basis. We will fight this latest attack on California’s power to protect its own residents, and I will urge my colleagues in the Senate to recognize the severe implications of proceeding with this violation…”
