Email from Rep. McCaul Supporting President Trump’s Work to Defend the Homeland on his 100th Day in Office For years, I've fought to protect Texans from the financial burdens and safety threats posed by an open border, and I am grateful President Trump wasted no time in re-establishing a strong deterrence policy and deporting the violent criminals whom the Biden administration welcomed into our communities. Since entering office, the Trump administration has effectively secured the border, with encounters of illegal immigrants at the border dropping by 95%. The administration’s success proves we did not need new laws — as Democrats repeatedly claimed last year; we simply needed our laws to be enforced by an administration that wanted to protect our homeland. At such an important time in history, it’s an honor to serve as vice chair of the House Homeland Security Committee. On President Donald Trump's 100th day in office, our committee convened to vote on our portion of Congress’ upcoming funding legislation, which the president has affectionately called the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Our portion of the bill will further support the president’s border security agenda by providing funding to finish construction of the border wall, hire new Border Patrol and Customs agents, install new technology to detect illegal drug trafficking at the border, and ensure our dedicated agents on the frontline have new facilities and infrastructure to support them in their mission. I joined Fox News to discuss this major win for Texans and President Trump's incredible progress over his first 100 days with Harris Faulkner: Click to Watch Economic Diplomacy as a Path to Prosperity: Trump Secures Critical Minerals Deal With Ukraine This week, President Trump announced that the United States and Ukraine officially signed the long-awaited critical minerals deal, which establishes an economic partnership between our two nations. Under the terms of the deal, the U.S. will receive a large portion of the future revenue from Ukraine’s natural resources, in return for U.S. support and investment. This a proud moment for Americans, Ukrainians, and all peace-loving people around the world. The result of months of tireless work, this historic deal will strengthen the partnership between our two nations, help Ukraine rebuild and restore its communities, and ensure the American taxpayer benefits from the United States’ investment in freedom. The deal also sends a strong message to Russia that President Trump is serious about ending this war. It is time for Putin to stop his attacks on Ukraine, come to the table, and work with President Trump to secure lasting peace in Europe. Click here to read more from the Washington Examiner. Preserving Religious Liberty with President Trump on the National Day of Prayer This week, I had the honor of joining President Trump in the White House Rose Garden to celebrate the National Day of Prayer. On this important day, President Trump also announced a newly established Religious Liberty Commission — chaired by my good friend, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick. The commission will seek to preserve and enhance religious liberty, investigating topics like parents' rights to educate their children in a religious setting, attacks on houses of worship, and free speech for faith-based organizations. Photo taken by Rep. McCaul of President Trump at The White House Rose Garden Celebrating the National Day of Prayer Faith and freedom are the bedrock of our nation. I applaud President Trump's dedication to preserving religious liberty, because as Lieutenant Governor Patrick said, "No one should get between God and those seeking him." Spreading Awareness: Recognizing May as Brain Tumor Awareness Month This week, I was proud to introduce a resolution with my colleague Rep. Mike Quigley recognizing May as National Brain Tumor Awareness Month. Of all childhood cancers, brain tumors are the leading cause of death, with certain types having a devastating survival rate of just 25%. That is simply unacceptable. No child or family should face a diagnosis with so few options and so little hope. As chairman and founder of the Childhood Cancer Caucus, I’ve fought for years to prioritize investments in pediatric cancer research and save the lives of our precious children. This resolution works to spread brain cancer awareness, support efforts to develop better treatments, and reaffirm our commitment to working together to beat cancer once and for all. ICYMI: Rep. McCaul TV Coverage Rep. McCaul Joins KVUE To Discuss Border Security and President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” “This week, on the Homeland Security Committee where I am the chairman emeritus, we marked up a huge border security bill — $80 billion — that will be reinforcing security on our southern border. We have an Armed Services Committee, Department of Defense bill, that will bring $150 billion to our much-needed Defense Department to protect us from the threats around the world. We’ll see energy increase in production, and an extension now of the Trump tax cuts.” Click to Watch Rep. McCaul Joins KBTX To Discuss Trump 100 Day Mark and More "I would argue… we’re going to look back and say ‘thank God we started to manufacture [semiconductor chips] here in the United States. This is probably the biggest America First agenda I've seen involving one of the biggest national security issues of our time. The technology and the advanced semiconductor chip manufacturing not only goes in our most advanced weapon systems but also opens up the doorway to AI."
