President Trump Establishes the Religious Liberty Commission

“We will carry out the president’s important mission of preserving and strengthening religious liberty in our country.”

[[link removed]]

Thursday was a historic day at the White House! I joined President Donald Trump in the Rose Garden as he signed an Executive Order establishing the Religious Liberty Commission that I will Chair. It is an honor, and we will carry out the president’s important mission of preserving and strengthening religious liberty in our country.

The President, his team, and I have been working together on this Presidential Commission for Religious Liberty with the goal of announcing it yesterday, the National Day of Prayer.

I never dreamed that I would have the opportunity to speak in the White House Rose Garden alongside a President, especially one who is not only a friend but also a fellow believer. He loves God, praises Jesus, and shows respect for people of all faiths. No President in modern history, or perhaps in all of history, has championed religious liberty for all Americans like President Trump.

It is a great honor to chair the Commission.

The Texas Senate Has Passed ALL Top 40 Priority Bills!

“It is time for the House to begin moving property tax relief legislation.”

[[link removed]][link removed]

With the Texas Senate’s unanimous passage of Senate Bill 31, the Life of the Mother Act, on Tuesday, the Texas Senate has passed ALL its top 40 priority bills over to the Texas House. Some highlights of the Senate’s top 40 priorities [[link removed]] include:

* Eliminating school property taxes for the average Texas senior homeowner with the $200,000 homestead exemption ($140,000 homestead exemption for non-senior homeowners)
* Requiring local law enforcement to assist the federal government’s deportation efforts, known as 287(g), to help continue to secure the border
* Passing the largest launch of a school choice program in the history of the country for up to 100,000 students in the first year
* Placing the 10 Commandments back in schools
* Providing time for students to pray in public schools
* Increasing grid reliability and addressing the water shortage in Texas

The Senate has done its work — as of today, it has passed over 790 bills, while the House has passed just over 370.

With the clock ticking, the House must prioritize and deliver conservative priorities to the governor’s desk. The Senate has passed them already. It is time to begin moving Senate bills in the House. Democrats must not be allowed to obstruct the passage of key bills and joint resolutions. The next bill the House should pass is property tax relief.

June 2, Sine Die (end of session), is only a few short weeks away. Texans are watching the House with great interest.

I encourage every Texan to contact their House Representative and DEMAND that these bills be passed in the House!

I will be joining Governor Greg Abbott, Speaker Dustin Burrows, Senate Education Chair Brandon Creighton, Representative Brad Buckley, and other state and local officials this Saturday for the bill signing of our historic school choice legislation.

It will be a great day for Texas students and parents.

Everyone Loves Otis

I stopped at Subway in Giddings with my family’s pup, Otis! He loves the Philly Cheesesteak — footlong!

Thank you for all your support over the years and for everything you do to keep Texas red. May God bless you and your family, and may He continue to bless the greatest state of all—Texas.

Sincerely,
