Dear John,
This past Tuesday marked the 100th day of President Trump’s Administration. I know many of you reading this newsletter appreciate my efforts to work across the aisle where I can. But I know you also know I’m going to call it like I see it. And I believe President Trump has failed to deliver on the promises he made to the American people. And in fact – his early policies are hurting our economy and our communities. The President promised to lower costs, curb inflation and bring manufacturing back to the United States. Instead, he’s imposed sweeping across the board tariffs and started a trade war that’s made life more expensive for Minnesotans and created an incredible amount of uncertainty for businesses – large and small alike. With the help of Elon Musk and his so-called “Department of Government Efficiency,” the Administration has decimated the federal workforce – laying off Farm Service Agency loan officers, public health employees and thousands of federal workers who have dedicated their lives to serving our communities – including veterans. And the budget process set to unfold over the next two weeks has placed a target on programs like Social Security, SNAP and Medicaid that Minnesota’s kids, seniors and veterans rely on. I don’t believe many of his voters voted for this. He promised to drive down the cost of gas and groceries. He promised to bring jobs back to the United States. He promised a “golden age” for America. The policies don’t match the promises. I know the uncertainty is creating anxiety for many of you. I promise to keep fighting as hard as I can against the policies that hurt our community.
An update from my office:
Are you a high school student in MN02 interested in applying to a U.S. Service Academy? My office is hosting a Service Academy Information Night next Wednesday, May 7th in Burnsville. Please stop by if you would like to learn more about the application process and hear from representatives from each of the Academies. You can find more details below.

Here’s what else I was up to this week:
Meeting with ag groups
Minnesota’s own Land O’Lakes is an example of the power of farm cooperatives – and a reminder that we go further when we work together. This week in DC, I joined the Land O’ Lakes Board of Directors to discuss how we can deliver the bipartisan farm bill our farmers want and need.
It was also great to join my fellow Ag Committee leaders on Wednesday’s Texas Farm Bureau panel to discuss a strong, bipartisan farm bill that gets our farmers and producers the resources they need to keep feeding the world.
Standing up for our workers
As this Administration continues to haphazardly fire federal workers, I met with the National Federation of Federal Employees on Wednesday to talk about how we can continue to strengthen our unions and stand up for federal workers.
I also met with the Machinists Union District Lodge 77 to talk about how we can work together to support Minnesota unions and protect their right to collectively bargain for higher wages and safer working conditions. And I also had the chance to sit down with Health&Pension WORKS to talk about the importance of protecting our workers’ hard-earned benefits.

Reintroducing the Equality Act
In America, we're all entitled to the same protections under the law, yet in states across our country, many in the LGBTQ+ community are still fighting for their rights every single day. This week, I was proud to join my Equality Caucus Co-Chairs in reintroducing the Equality Act to protect LGBTQ+ Americans from discrimination. You can read more about the bill here
Holding Big Pharma accountable
While Minnesotans struggle to access the life-saving medications they need, large pharmaceutical companies are raking in record-breaking profits. That’s why I introduced a bipartisan bill that will eliminate tax breaks for prescription drug advertisements. It's time to hold Big Pharma accountable.

Behind the scenes:
This week, I met with the Minnesota Bankers Association to chat about how we can make sure our small businesses have the support and resources that they need to succeed - in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District and beyond. We had a chance to catch up over a few Jolly Ranchers (sour apple is my favorite) - and then got straight to business. I’m grateful to have great groups like the Minnesota Bankers Association to come share some laughs (and some sweets) with in Washington!
Have a great weekend!
Until next time,
Angie Craig
Member of Congress
