Last month, we emailed you about how our online fundraising had slowed way down.
But today, we want to show you what happened and explain why it matters.
A couple of things happened in April that had a major impact on grassroots fundraising:
The announcements, and the weeks of economic uncertainty that followed in America, made political donations understandably low priority for so many people just trying to afford the basics like rent or groceries or childcare.
So, as you can see in the graph above, our total fundraising in April took a hit.
Many other movements and campaigns that primarily rely on grassroots donations experienced the same thing — and over the coming months, as we live through the consequences of Trump’s tariffs, this trend is likely to continue.
If you can’t make a donation today or even this month, we don’t blame you at all. But if you can, and if you’re ready to elect candidates who will actually work to bring industry back to America without causing widespread panic and uncertainty, please consider making a donation of $10 or whatever works best for you today.
