Democrat,

100 days in, and Donald Trump has already cemented his place in history — for all the wrong reasons. His approval rating is the lowest of any president at this point in office in 80 years, fueled by how he has been crashing our economy, raising costs, and hurting New Jerseyan families across the state. The state has been left behind by the Trump Administration and Republicans, forced to endure chaos, pain, and broken promises.

In this week’s newsletter, we break down Trump’s latest executive attack on immigrants, debunk MAGA lies about Head Start, and highlight how New Jersey Democrats are fighting back for our communities.

 — Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr.

EXECUTIVE (DIS)ORDER OF THE WEEK

Donald Trump’s new executive order, which requires the publication of a list of sanctuary cities and states, is a clear attack on immigrant communities — once again targeting local governments and threatening to strip away critical funding. In New Jersey, cities like Newark, Jersey City, and Hoboken would be directly threatened — despite courts previously blocking Trump’s attempts to punish them. This isn’t about public safety — it’s about political retribution and fearmongering, and it would hurt families across our state.

Your Weekly Debunk

Claim:
Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans are pushing to gut Head Start, claiming it’s an unnecessary federal expense.

The Truth:
Since 1965, Head Start programs have given more than 38 million children from low-income families a strong start in life. Research shows that kids in Head Start are more likely to graduate high school, attend college, and have better social and emotional development — helping break cycles of poverty for generations.

Impact on New Jersey:
Head Start and Early Head Start programs in New Jersey serve more than 14,900 children and families. Even as federal cuts threaten programs nationwide, centers in Newark, East Orange, and Jersey City continue to provide critical early education and support. Read a firsthand account of the impact on NJ families.

How New Jersey is Fighting Back

Sen. Cory Booker and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries led a sit-in at the Capital steps to protest the GOP budget plan to cut funds from Medicaid and food assistance programs. Click HERE to read more.

Additionally, every New Jersey Democrat is fighting to protect Social Security, demanding the Trump Administration to keep all New Jersey’s 24 Social Security offices open to ensure accessibility. Click HERE to learn how our legislators are fighting back.
