Primary Month

We'd like to remind everyone to vote in the PA Primary Elections on 5/20. As taxpayers, we all pay for these elections, and the results will have huge implications on who can be elected in November. We encourage you all to make your voice heard to support the candidates who represent your values. Unfortunately, 1.4 million Pennsylvanians, and likely a disproportionate number of Forward Party supporters, are not registered with one of the two major parties, and therefore not allowed to participate. 

You may not realize that we are one of the very few states that still have a completely closed partisan primary system. The effort to repeal closed primaries has been ongoing and will continue. We will continue to highlight the work of Ballot PA and Independent Pennsylvanians so you can find a way to help. It's also important to remember that letting independents vote in the primary is a great first goal, but we also want to keep pushing for Ranked Choice Voting and Non-Partisan Primaries.

 

For all of you who can and will be voting this month, we encourage you to take the time to understand the candidates and offices on your ballot. These people are putting themselves out there to serve their community. They deserve more attention! Do you know any local candidates who align with Forward values? Reach out with some names that should be on our radar. You may also notice races with no candidates at all. These may be great opportunities for us to run candidates. We'll put you in contact with Forward Party Leadership in your area so you can improve your local representation. We are a bottom-up organization; these local elections are where we start.
