The truth can be difficult to face, but at Animal Outlook, we believe it's the first step toward meaningful change. This week, our relentless pursuit of transparency has uncovered a disturbing reality that demands your attention—and action.
Following a tip from a supporter like you, we exposed how the USDA spent nearly $1 million of taxpayer money to exterminate close to 100,000Â ducks at Crescent Duck Farm, the largest factory farm on Long Island, NY. This shocking story, now featured in the New York Post, reveals the tragic consequences of animal agriculture not just for animals, but for our communities and public resources.
Through our Freedom of Information Act request, we uncovered the grim details: birds killed en masse with carbon dioxide foam, and survivors having their necks broken with a "Koechner Euthanizing Device." Perhaps most telling is how the government values these sentient beings—compensating the farm as little as $0.98 per duck. Less than a dollar for a life. This isn't just animal cruelty—it's a systemic failure that touches all of us, whether we realize it or not.
Approximately 100,000 ducks were recently killed at Crescent Duck Farm on Long Island, N.Y., at a cost of almost $1 million to taxpayers.
Before this mass culling, Crescent supplied 4% of America's duck meat while polluting the beautiful North Fork area with the unmistakable stench of factory farming. But there's hope amid this tragedy. Animal Outlook is reaching out to Crescent Duck Farm through our Farm Transitions program, offering support to shift from animal agriculture to sustainable crop production—a win for animals, the environment, and the local community.
This investigation exemplifies what makes Animal Outlook different. We don't just expose cruelty—we offer solutions. We don't just highlight problems—we create pathways to a more compassionate future. And we couldn't do any of it without supporters like you standing beside us.
Your donation today will directly fund more investigations like this one, powering our legal team to hold the powerful accountable and enabling our outreach programs to help farms transition away from animal agriculture. Even $25 can help us file the next FOIA request that might uncover similar abuses of power and misuse of public funds.
Will you stand with us today? Together, we can continue exposing truth and inspiring change—not just for the animals who suffered at Crescent Duck Farm, but for all animals trapped in the brutal system of factory farming.
