A weekly wrap of ADL’s reports, updates and analysis on antisemitism around the world.
This Week’s Topline
Supporting Meta Shareholder Proposal 8 to Address Antisemitism and other Online Hate on Facebook
ADL affiliate JLens has introduced Shareholder Proposal 8, to be voted on at Meta’s annual shareholder meeting later this month. The goal of the proposal is to get Meta (the owner of Facebook) to provide a detailed report on how it addresses antisemitism and other hate content.

ADL research shows that Meta’s Facebook has been the platform where Americans most frequently experience harassment — every year for the past five years. Despite this, Meta has gone in the opposite direction, aggressively rolling back content moderation policies that provide safeguards for users.
JLens has been busy in this proxy season, running campaigns to reject anti-Israel shareholder proposals at General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin and Intel.

On Yom Ha’atzmaut: As Israel’s Independence Day is celebrated, we invite you to read “The Success of Zionism Despite Rising Antisemitism,” an insightful op-ed by ADL’s Ken Jacobson.
One of the basic principles of the Zionist movement was that since the world was full of antisemitism, the Jewish people had no choice but to re-establish their historic home in the land of Israel as a modern nation-state. … Today, even as war rages and hostages are being held, on this Yom Ha’atzmaut, let us pay homage to those courageous visionaries of the Zionist movement who saw a future for Jews that would enable a people to return home after 2,000 years, and would provide the opportunity for a fulfilling future in their historic homeland. Am Yisrael Chai.

Profiting off Holocaust Denial: Holocaust deniers, their organizations and companies often financially benefit from spreading their hateful lies. These predominantly U.S.-based organizations routinely use mainstream financial and merchandising platforms to capitalize on Holocaust denial and use the profits to support future conspiracy-fueled efforts and underwrite personal expenses. For example, on Amazon, users can buy a book that falsely claims that the Third Reich’s “Final Solution” — the well-documented genocide of Jews — was actually an effort to relocate Jews to Madagascar. Read more in this ADL report on how mainstream platforms have an important role
to play in preventing the spread of virulently antisemitic Holocaust denial.

LISTEN: ADL on Countering Antisemitism: On a new episode of the popular ‘On Brand with Donny Deutsch’ podcast, ADL's Jonathan Greenblatt digs into the importance of civil rights for all and the need for a bipartisan approach to support Israel, while also highlighting the interconnectedness of antisemitism and anti-American sentiments. He also responds to recent events such as hate crimes against Jewish politicians and ADL’s launch of a Jewish ETF to counter BDS movements.

2024 US Audit of Antisemitic Incidents with the Knesset committee on Aliyah, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs. The session was attended by Israeli government officials, diaspora community leaders, parliamentarians, student representatives and global experts.
The head of ADL’s Israel office, Carole Nuriel, presented these findings to the committee after opening remarks from CEO Jonathan Greenblatt about the Audit and the state of antisemitism. We also brought in voices from the Jewish communities in the United States, Latin America and Europe to discuss their experiences with antisemitism, which has surged since 10/7. The discussion is particularly timely since 2024 marks the first year in which antisemitic incidents containing elements related to Israel or Zionism made up a majority of all incidents tracked in the Audit.
Israeli MK Gilad Kariv concluded the discussion by thanking ADL and urged the government to intensify efforts toward developing a coordinated, long-term strategy that builds deeper engagement between Israel and youth/student organizations, building faith-based coalitions and closing any gaps between the Israeli government and the lived experiences of Jewish communities in the U.S. and other nations.

Tell Nike: “Never Again” Is Not a Marketing Slogan for Sneakers. Nike’s appalling London Marathon ad featured the phrase “Never Again. Until Next Year.” Nike must take meaningful action including internal education, greater sensitivity and engagement with Jewish organizations. Join ADL in urging Nike to take action to heal the harm they've caused and to make sure "Never Again" truly means never again for Jews and all victims of hate.

On Yom HaAtzmaut, we celebrate the establishment of the modern Jewish and democratic state of Israel. As we rejoice in 77 years of Israel’s independence, our minds remain on the 59 hostages still in captivity. In Judaism, we learn that joy and grief coexist. Being able to immerse ourselves in both is the essence of Jewish resilience. And when we sing Hatikvah — Israel’s national anthem — we add the element of hope.

The US @HolocaustMuseum exists to honor the memory of the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and the millions of other victims of Nazi persecution, and to educate current and future generations about the dangers of antisemitism and hate. It must remain above politics.
Removing members of The United States Holocaust Memorial Council before the end of their terms and without any apparent explanation risks politicizing a vital institution. At a time of rising antisemitism and in the face of expanding Holocaust denialism and distortion, we should be uniting to preserve historical truth. While it’s true that the White House has the privilege to appoint and dismiss members to such bodies, the latter prerogative should be used with caution and only in the most egregious situations. The Holocaust Museum is not just a monument to the past, it is a warning to the present. We must ensure it remains nonpartisan and committed to its core mission of ensuring
that #NeverAgain stands true. We would hope for a fulsome explanation for this decision and even a reconsideration.

We are relieved that British security forces were able to thwart an attempted terror attack on the Israeli Embassy in London (@israelinuk). The escalating threats against Israeli and Jewish institutions solve nothing - it only brings more violence.
