I thought you might be interested in our letter to the editor at the bottom of the page in today's edition of The New York Times, where we address the hysteria regarding smaller families.

Our letter contains a link to information about the recent national survey we commissioned. We found that Americans have an established preference for small family sizes, and that concerns around the state of the world and finances play a big role in people’s childbearing decisions.

Incidentally, every time an opinion piece appears in the Times on the topic of population growth, readers overwhelmingly agree with our perspective that we are already overpopulated.

I certainly have no quibble with presenting all points of view on key topics. But there is a false equivalency when one side makes cogent arguments about the human and environmental costs of overpopulation while the other side complains that we might have to adjust in some way to a less-crowded planet. For some reason, the media gives far too much space to the Flat Earth types.

We will continue to make every effort to push back against this foolishness wherever it appears.
