Email from Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty WILL's Wins In Trump's First 100 Days Trump Admin to Repeal Biden Rule: A WIN for Investors & WILL's ESG Lawsuit A lawsuit challenging a Biden-era investment rule will be put on hold, as the Trump Administration reconsiders and ultimately plans to repeal the rule. On behalf of two Wisconsin investors, WILL sued the Biden Administration challenging the use of environmental, social, and governance (commonly referred to as “ESG”) factors in retirement investing. ESG factors routinely include “climate change” considerations, and divisive DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) concepts, instead of maximizing return on investment, as mandated by federal law. WILL Deputy Counsel, Dan Lennington, stated, “For years, the Biden Administration jeopardized retirement incomes of over 140 million Americans by pushing phony investment strategies promoting climate change and DEI. WILL was the first to sue, and now we are seeing the fruits of our lawsuit. The Trump Administration plans to revoke this rule, resulting in a big win for all those who saved for retirement.” Learn More Status Report: The Fight to End DEI Earlier this year, WILL unveiled our Roadmap to Equality, a litany of programs and policies the Trump Administration should eliminate in its push to end DEI. We are not just taking the President at his word, we are tracking his progress. We are pleased to report that 100 days into Trump's term, his administration is 56% of the way through our roadmap. Judge Dugan Likely Obstructed Justice, Risked Lives An op-ed, authored by WILL President & General Counsel, Rick Esenberg, and Vice President & Deputy Counsel, Dan Lennington, lays out the grave allegations made against Judge Dugan. "If these facts are proven at trial, Dugan obstructed justice and prevented the arrest of a fugitive. She placed the agents, members of the public and Flores-Ruiz at risk by helping him 'make a run' to evade arrest." "Respect for democracy includes respect for the laws that our elected representatives have enacted. It means honoring the rule of law and not simply ignoring laws that we do not like." Register Wisconsin in Desperate Need of Regulatory Reform WILL released a new report, “Regulatory Reform in Wisconsin: An Opportunity for Greater Economic Growth,” making the case for much-needed regulatory reform in the state while also highlighting several solutions that were introduced in the Wisconsin legislature today. WILL partnered with regulatory policy expert Dr. Patrick A. McLaughlin — a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Pacific Legal Foundation — to produce the report. Why Wisconsin needs a “Red Tape Reset”: Wisconsin is at a crossroads. Burdened by an outdated and bloated regulatory code, our state now ranks as the 13th most regulated in the nation—with over 165,000 restrictions on the books. That’s five times more than Idaho, the least regulated state. A Solution: WILL participated in a press conference today with Wisconsin lawmakers to introduce a legislative package to tackle this problem head on.
