Back in January the voting section of the civil rights division had seven managers overseeing around 30 attorneys. Since then, one manager was detailed to a task force, one retired, and the other five were all reassigned last week to the "complaint adjudication office", a little-known part of the justice department that handles employee complaints.
The threats are clear, John, as states pass more suppressive legislation. RUSH $25 or more right now to help us defend our fundamental right to vote and more >> [[link removed]]

The Guardian: Trump’s justice department appointees remove leadership of voting unit [[link removed]]
This speaks for itself, John. Straight from The Guardian :
" Donald Trump’s appointees at the Department of Justice have removed all of the senior civil servants working as managers in the department’s voting section and directed attorneys to dismiss all active cases, according to people familiar with the matter, part of a broader attack on the department’s civil rights division. "
This action represents a dramatic escalation in Trump's war on voting, coming after he ordered a permanent litigation freeze on voting cases back in January and then issued his suppressive, anti-voting executive order last month.
It's worth noting that the staff removed are nonpartisan civil servants -- lawyers who are career DOJ employees and serve regardless of who is president. Any partisan presidential appointees from the Biden administration ended their jobs when Trump was inaugurated and have been gone for months.
Are we surprised? No. But this action -- though expected, based on how this division was sidelined in Trump's first four years -- highlights how badly we need to fight for our fundamental rights as citizens , from the outside of government.

The civil rights division, which was created in 1957 and is often referred to as the “crown jewel” of the justice department, has always been a cornerstone in the fight to protect our right to vote.
But when Trump campaign lawyer and election denier Harmeet Dhillon -- who has argued in court in favor of voter suppression laws -- was confirmed to lead the department last month, she sent out new “mission statements” that made it clear the civil rights division was shifting its focus from protecting the civil rights of marginalized people to supporting Trump’s priorities.
You don't have to read into that to get the message: Our fundamental rights, including voting and so much more, aren't going to be protected by this administration. In fact, they're going to be repeatedly attacked from within our government until they ensconce their control forever.

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.
Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
