As always, I hope you find the information below useful.

Perkiomen Valley Girls Basketball

I was happy to welcome the championship-winning Perkiomen Valley High School girls basketball team to Harrisburg on Wednesday with Rep. Bradford and Rep. Scheuren. The girls captured the PIAA 6A championship in March, the first state title in program history, and we honored them in the House for this remarkable accomplishment. Congratulations!

Real ID Days

The enforcement deadline for REAL ID is next Wednesday, May 7. PennDOT is offering dedicated days at driver license centers to help YOU get a REAL ID. Both the Norristown and King of Prussia driver license centers will hold REAL ID days on Monday, May 5, and Monday, May 12.

Beginning May 7, Pennsylvanians will need a REAL ID, or a valid passport or military ID, to board a domestic flight or enter a federal building. You can still obtain a REAL ID following the enforcement deadline.

NOTE: REAL ID Days at driver license centers are for REAL ID services only. To find more information, please visit: PennDOT.pa.gov/REALID

SEPTA Funding Cuts

Recently SEPTA announced changes to routes and services if additional state funding cannot be secured. If you’re curious how our own community would be affected by these changes, take a look at the image above. Mass transit provides broad and deep benefits to our communities: employment access, less vehicle congestion, less tax revenue benefits, halted development and access to affordable housing, and overall disconnection throughout neighborhoods. With this current proposal, multiple bus lines in our community will face service reductions.

SEPTA can operate safely and efficiently if it is funded. Mass transit provides tremendous benefit to our Southeastern PA communities, and for our region's role as a commonwealth economic driver. I will continue to provide updates as I and my colleagues continue budget discussions in Harrisburg.

Construction Alert: Bridge Replacement on Black Rock Road

The section of Black Rock Road between Upper Indian Head Road and Ashenfelter Road will be closed through Monday, December 1.

PennDOT is advising drivers to prepare for delays and use Egypt Road and Route 29 once construction begins.

Observances

Mental Health Awareness Month – May

Whether it’s in silence or openly, millions of people live with mental health conditions. The month of May is when we recognize Menal Health Awareness Month, but it’s something we should do as often as we can, because that’s how we create a supportive and accepting world. We can do this by sharing stories, promoting resources for mental health care, and working to end the stigma that surrounds mental health. Every voice and every story have the power to do just that.

Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month – May

In May we recognize Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by celebrating the rich culture, historical impact, and remarkable achievements made by the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. Be on the lookout for local events in our community to help support and celebrate!
