May Day! One Struggle, One Fight, Workers Unite!
|
May 1 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
|
DSA-LA is proud to turn out and turn up for May Day every single year. Join us for a rally and march on May 1, 2025.
We know May Day as International Worker’s Day—a day that workers and social movements around the world engage in rallies, demonstrations, strikes, and protests. This year, in the face of unprecedented attacks against our communities, we join immigrants, workers, educators, students, queer and trans people, local organizations, and more to collectively stand up and fight back.
The starting point for the march will be at Olympic and Figueroa. Hang out with your comrades after the rally at Le Zinque – 939 S Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90015 (social runs from 1:30 – 3:30).
RSVP now, for more information!

Please also see our community agreements below!
We often, and enthusiastically, organize and discuss topics in large groups of people with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints. Learning to do this without reproducing the oppressive ideologies we’ve inherited from a dysfunctional society can be daunting and uncomfortable, but it is essential. If we are going to build a society that prefers equality to oppression, we must build it first in the spaces we organize. The following are not only useful guidelines for respectful discussion, they are also fundamental building blocks for creating a social movement capable of broad and meaningful solidarity:

Avelo Airlines Demonstration + Social
|
Saturday, May 3 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
|
Are you disgusted with how the current administration has been disappearing people lately? Are you looking for something to do about it?
Join us next Saturday, May 3rd to demonstrate Avelo Airlines, outside of the Burbank Airport followed by a social at Lawless Brewery in NoHo. Avelo Airlines has accepted a government contract to fly those detained by the Trump administration to El Salvador. The contract was first initiated under the Biden administration. However, we are now seeing the type of inhumane treatment the airline is enabling under the current administration. Avelo Airlines has pulled out of other airports to focus its commercial hub in Burbank, giving us an opportunity to call them out on being willing participants in these atrocities.

Sunday, May 4 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Are you new or newly returning to DSA? To Los Angeles? To the Left? Then join us for DSA 101!
At this orientation, we’ll talk about what capitalism is, how it functions, and why socialism is ideologically opposed to it. Participants will also learn about the history of our organization and our chapter in particular, the current projects we’re working on, and how you can get involved. This is not a lecture, but a meeting for new and veteran organizers to ground ourselves in socialist theory and discuss together how we can put it into action. We’re excited to chat with you!

Saturday, May 17 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
|
Join for our May 2025 chapter meeting. We will be discussing local issues relevant to the working class, with a focus on our priority campaigns passed during our local convention last month. This work is done by dues-paying DSA-LA members, who voted to approve major chapter priorities in April of 2025 at that local annual convention. DSA-LA is as strong as its members!
If you’re not yet a DSA member, today’s a great day to join. Get involved with building socialism in our city.

Want to support our chapter in direct actions, door knocking, political education, and more as we fight fascism with socialism in 2025? Chip in some socialist cash to take out the capitalist trash!
