Hi John,
Tomorrow, people all across the country will be taking to the streets in support of workers’ rights, to protest the policies of the Trump-Musk authoritarian regime, and to join in solidarity with our immigrant and trans communities. We’re fighting for a future where we are all safe and cared for, regardless of what we look like or where we come from or what we do for work.
Join us on May Day — find an action near you. [[link removed]]
Even in times as challenging as these, I believe we will get to that future. Right now, that requires us to build a mass diverse movement to challenge authoritarianism. The administration and its allies are trying to fast-track us to fascism, but they’re not doing it alone.
For years, big corporations and billionaire CEOs have laid the groundwork for our shared suffering, interfering in our democracy and rigging the rules of our economy to increase their profits. They raise the rent and the price of groceries, lobby to block minimum wage laws and rent control, and drum up fear and anger to scapegoat our most vulnerable communities and distract us from what they’re doing.
These mega-corporations and wealthy elites have decided they’re willing to sell out our freedoms for more power and profit. That’s why it’s critical that on May Day (and every day) we keep our attention on the corporations that are harming us and our communities.
Tomorrow and over the course of the next week, folks are coming together across the country — from marches in New York to rallies in Missouri to celebrations and performances in San José. Campaigns for climate justice, worker power, and immigrant rights bring diverse people and coalitions together, and we will see that combined power in full force tomorrow.
Whether you’re in a small town or a big city, I hope you’ll be able to join us in the streets. Find an action near you (there are over 1,000 planned) on the May Day Strong website [[link removed]] , hosted by Bargaining for the Common Good and a broad national coalition.
Over a century ago when May Day was first commemorated, working people were fighting for an eight hour workday. It seemed unimaginable back then, but has become the norm. That victory was won through courage, discipline, and hope. Those are the same qualities we must tap into to carry us through this perilous moment.
