Hey John, it’s Becca.
Breaking news: My team just got word that Mohsen Mahdawi — a Vermont resident who was wrongfully arrested by ICE agents — has been released on bail. Today’s news shows us what we can do when we fight for justice, when we come together and use our voices.
Last night, I led a rally to demand the immediate release of Mohsen Mahdawi. I was so proud to see so many people join us to call attention to this injustice — and I’m even more proud to see that our voices have had an impact. Let this moment inspire us to keep up the fight.

This is a major win for our cause — but this fight is far from over.
The Trump administration is disappearing people in this country under the guise of “immigration reform” and “safety.” It’s inhumane and a total and blatant violation of the Constitution.
Mohsen Mahdawi and countless others are being attacked because of free speech. This should terrify every single person living in this country, regardless of your citizenship status. If the Trump Administration can come for one of us, they can come for all of us.
The best way to fight for justice is by speaking out and fighting back, together. Our voices matter. Every time you show up to a protest, or gather with your community, it matters, it’s about small acts of resistance.
Stay tuned as my team and I keep fighting for Mohsen and for our free speech.
In solidarity,
Becca
