Dear John,
Last week, the Trump administration's new anti-Christian task force met for the first time. This task force, led by the Department of Justice and including a total of 17 federal departments and agencies, is focused on rectifying the anti-Christian bias perpetrated under the previous administration.
As the task force continues this important and necessary work, canceling the SPLC -- the organization that laid the seeds of anti-Christian bias in the government -- should be one of their top priorities.
For decades, the SPLC has masqueraded as a civil rights organization while using its platform to target and silence Christian and conservative voices. It has championed issues like unrestricted abortion, gender ideology, and anti-Christian discrimination, all while branding mainstream organizations it disagrees with as "hate groups."
Here's just a glimpse of the SPLC's track record:
- Doxxing and Smearing Christian Media -- The SPLC has targeted outlets like Not the Bee, a partner of The Babylon Bee, by exposing and harassing anonymous writers.
- Encouraging "Debanking" of Conservatives -- The SPLC labels Christian and conservative organizations as "extremist," prompting financial institutions to cancel their accounts.
- Ties to Extremist Violence -- An SPLC staff attorney was arrested for domestic terrorism after participating in a violent attack on an Atlanta police training center.
- Weaponizing Federal Agencies -- The SPLC influenced the Biden-era DOJ and FBI to brand conservative parents, religious organizations, and policy advocates as "extremists."
Even more disturbing, SPLC President Margaret Huang reportedly bragged during a donor meeting that the Biden administration sought the SPLC's advice on its domestic terrorism strategy. The administration's domestic terrorism agenda was intentionally vague, but now we know why -- it concealed the SPLC's role in advising the government while labeling mainstream Christian and conservative organizations as terrorist threats.
The DOJ cited the SPLC in a 2023 memo that unjustly targeted Catholic Americans under the guise of combating domestic extremism. "Radical traditionalist Catholics" were classified alongside neo-Nazi organizations and the Ku Klux Klan because of the SPLC's influence.
The actions of the FBI and federal government against Americans simply practicing their faith and holding conservative beliefs demonstrate just how deep the rot of the SPLC's influence goes.
Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares said on Washington Watch, "I can think of few things more un-American than having your own government label you as a violent extremist just because there is a particular manner in how you choose to worship."
Thankfully, with new leadership in the DOJ you and I have a chance to stop the SPLC for good. We need thousands of faithful Americans like you to sign our petition calling on Attorney General Pam Bondi and the DOJ to publicly reject the SPLC and their anti-Christian propaganda.
Family Research Council has actively exposed the SPLC's radical agenda for years. In April 2023, FRC launched a petition calling for the House Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government to investigate the organization -- and thousands of concerned Americans just like you made your voice heard.
Now we are sending a strong message to the current administration that Christians will no longer tolerate government collusion with this dangerous and discredited organization. Will you take just 30 seconds to add your name to FRC's petition?
The SPLC's influence in our government is dangerous and unjust. If you and I do not act now, their anti-Christian agenda will continue shaping policies for years to come. Sign the petition today and take a stand for faith, family, and freedom!
We, the undersigned, urge the U.S. Department of Justice to immediately sever all ties with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and formally renounce its influence on federal law enforcement and public policy decisions. The SPLC is a Leftist aligned organization that has a long and well-documented history of smearing faith-based organizations, mischaracterizing mainstream Christian and conservative groups as "hate groups," and inciting division and violence in our country.
Furthermore, we call on the DOJ to investigate the SPLC's documented role in influencing federal agencies under previous administrations, including its contributions to domestic terrorism threat assessments and its coordination with government entities to silence political opponents. The American people deserve transparency and accountability to ensure that extremist organizations are not weaponized against citizens of faith.
We respectfully request that your office take immediate steps to protect religious liberty, uphold the integrity of the DOJ, and prevent further abuse of federal power.
