Biden: President Trump "is going to try to steal this election." "Echoing conspiracy theorists, including failed 2016 presidential contender Hillary Clinton, Biden explained vague comments he’d made previously, telling “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah that he believes Trump will not accept a loss at the ballot box and that the president will try to create chaos around the election." (Daily Wire) Joe Biden is once again pushing extreme conspiracy theories ... and getting support from the entertainment industry as he does so.
But that answer came with help from The Daily Show, as the host asked "whether [Biden] had considered the possibility that Trump would refuse to accept the election results if he lost," according to the National Review.
Just weeks ago, Biden suggested -- without any evidence -- that President Trump would try to delay the November 2020 election.
The response from the White House press secretary to all of these outlandish claims? "Leave it to Democrats to go out there and grandstand and level these conspiracy theories," according to the Daily Caller.
The field for Biden's VP narrows, as Stacy Abrams seems to suggest she may be out of the running. "Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams says she has not heard from Joe Biden’s presidential campaign as it starts its vetting process to pick a nominee for vice president. 'I have said many times that if called I will answer, but I have not received any calls,' Abrams, who rose to prominence when she narrowly lost Georgia’s gubernatorial race in 2018, said Wednesday night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." (The Hill) Stacy Abrams may be out of the running to be Biden's VP. In an interview she did last night, she said she hasn't heard from the campaign -- though she has expressed enthusiasm for being considered for the role.
Abrams became a national Democratic leader during her run for Georgia governor in 2018; before that, she was the Democratic Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives for six years.
As National Review reported last year, Abrams' "insistence that Brian Kemp and the Republicans stole the election from her [in 2018] has now become an article of faith among Democrats."
More authority given to Senate committee investigating the FBI's handling of claims of Russian collusion against the Trump campaign in 2016. "In a 12-10 party-line vote, Republicans on the panel gave Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) broad authority to subpoena the individuals, who include high-profile Obama administration officials, for interviews or documents tied to his investigation." (The Hill) Senate oversight of the so-called "Crossfire Hurricane" investigation continues, with more subpoena powers granted to the Senate Judiciary Committee. This means that Obama Administration officials could be subpoenaed to testify before the Senate.
And Sen. Lindsey Graham, the committee chair, has said he wants to issue a report by October -- which could make this a major issue in the final weeks of the 2020 election, particularly since Joe Biden served in the Obama Administration.
Democratic Senate candidate and erstwhile 2020 primary campaigner "blames his ethics violations on Republicans." "Former Colorado governor John Hickenlooper characterized his conviction on ethics violations as Republican 'smear attacks' during a primary debate Tuesday night. Hickenlooper was found guilty by the Colorado Independent Ethics Commission last Friday of twice accepting free luxury travel from business interests while he was governor. The five-member panel also voted unanimously to hold him in contempt for initially defying a subpoena to appear at the hearing." (Washington Free Beacon) John Hickenlooper, running now for Senate in Colorado after dropping out of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, tried to delay his ethics trial (and a cynic would suggest that was to push it past the June 30 voting date in his current primary).
But the ethics trial continued, and last week he was found guilty of "accepting free luxury travel" while governor -- plus an additional contempt charge. On the debate stage this week, he blamed ... Republicans, as the Washington Free Beacon reported.
Earlier this year, it was reported by Fox31 News in Denver that Colorado taxpayers had paid more than $75,000 of Hickenlooper's legal defense bills.
