Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) - The 2024-2025 Cooling Assistance Benefit is now available!The Home Energy Assistance Program can help eligible New Yorkers heat and cool their homes. If you are eligible, you may receive one regular HEAP benefit per program year and could also be eligible for emergency HEAP benefits if you are in danger of running out of fuel or having your utility service shut off.The Cooling Assistance Benefit provides for the purchase and installation of an air conditioner or a fan to help your home stay cool. Featured Funding OpportunitiesNational Fish and Wildlife Foundation Request for ProposalsAcres for America 2025Acres for America is the NFWF’s premier land conservation program and was established to provide urgently needed funding for projects that conserve important large-scale habitats for fish, wildlife, and plants through voluntary land acquisitions and perpetual conservation easements.This Request for Proposals will gather pre-proposals nationwide. NFWF will then choose a few applicants to submit full proposals. Applicants are encouraged to contact their regional NFWF office before submitting a pre-proposal to discuss project concepts and ideas.Applicant Webinar: May 2, 2025, 1:00 pm ET (Register Here)Pre-Proposal Due Date: May 20, 2025, by 11:59 pm ETInvite-Only Full Proposal Due Date: July 9, 2025, by 11:59 pm ETNortheast Forests and Rivers Fund 2025The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is soliciting proposals for the Northeast Forests and Rivers Fund to restore and sustain healthy rivers, forests and grasslands that provide habitat for diverse fish and wildlife populations.Full Proposal Due Date: June 26, 2025, 11:59 PM EDT2025 COPS Office School Violence Prevention ProgramThe goal of this program is to improve security at schools and on school grounds through the implementation of evidence-based school safety programs and technology. The COPS Office will host an informational webinar on the School Violence Prevention Program on May 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM ET. Register for the WebinarApplications are due by June 26, 2025 at 4:59 PM ET. FY 2025 Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A)The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) established the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) competitive grant program with $5 billion in appropriated funds over 5 years, 2022-2026. The SS4A program funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries. The SS4A program provides funding for two main types of grants: Planning and Demonstration Grants for Action Plans, including supplemental safety planning and/or safety demonstration activities, and Implementation Grants.The FY 2025 NOFO substantively differs from the FY 2024 NOFO, be sure to review It closely. The deadline for applications is June 26, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. (EDT) Featured Federally Supported ResourcesCapital Region Transportation Council (CRTC)The Transportation Council is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for a region that includes the counties of Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga (except the Town of Moreau and the Village of South Glens Falls), and Schenectady. Led by a Policy Board comprised of elected and appointed officials at the state, regional, and local government levels, the Transportation Council assigns federal funds to transportation plans, programs, and projects in the Capital Region.Capital District Regional Planning Commission (CDRPC)The Regional Planning Commission is a regional planning and resource center serving Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties. CDRPC provides objective analysis of data, trends, opportunities, and challenges relevant to the Region’s economic development and planning communities. CDRPC serves the best interests of the public and private sectors by promoting intergovernmental cooperation; communicating, collaborating, and facilitating regional initiatives; and sharing information and fostering dialogues on solutions to regional problems. Small Business ResourcesThe Albany Small Business Development Center serves small businesses in the Capital Region.
