Fellow Democrat,
Today marks 100 days in office for the Trump administration. The reviews are in, and they’re not good.
* “… among the most destabilizing in American history … “ (Time).


* “… created crises that threaten immense long-term harm to the American republic, and its place in the world.” (Financial Times)


* “… a time of anxiety instead of his promised golden age of prosperity.” (Associated Press)


* “ Approval rating? Down . Support for his immigration policy? Deteriorating. The economy? Worse than a few months ago, with many consumers fearing a recession ahead.” (Washington Post)
All that Donald Trump has accomplished in 100 days is a decade’s worth of damage to an economy that was the envy of the world, to Americans’ rights under the law, and to our standing as a beacon of freedom and democracy around the globe.
And, for working families hoping that he would keep his promises to make life better, these first three months have brought only fear and anxiety about their jobs and their children’s future. His foolish and reckless economic policies have seen big increases, not in growth or prosperity, but in chaos and uncertainty -- as he likes to say – like nothing we’ve ever seen before.
I know that I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. If anything, this milestone is an opportunity to pause, take a breath and realize that we are all in this together.
It is also a time to recognize who the real leaders are.
We have those leaders here in Massachusetts. Leaders like Maura Healey and Kim Driscoll , who fight for our people and our values. Leaders like our all-Democratic congressional delegation , who are not afraid to speak out and push back. Leaders who go to work every day to take on the tough problems and improve the lives of ordinary families.
At times like these, we need leaders to shine the light and show the way. To remind us that there is light in the darkness. To offer hope that a brighter future is still possible. To encourage us all to stay in the fight and never give up.
We need to support our great Democratic leaders and the work they do in support of the issues and causes we care about so deeply. And we need to support Democrats in key races around the country this year to send the message that Americans want leaders who will work together to solve problems, respect everyone’s rights and bring prosperity to all.
As your state party Chair, I am more committed to doing this work than I have ever been.
Here at the MassDems, we are fighting back and leading forward — but we can't do it alone. With your support, we will elect and protect Democratic leaders who will stand up for our values and defend our future.
