John,
There was a revealing moment in Donald Trump’s recent interview with The Atlantic :
“You know at some point, they give up,” he said, referring to media owners generally—and, we suspect, Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos specifically. “At some point they say, No más, no más.” He laughed quietly.” — The Atlantic , April 28, 2025
We’re just 100 days into Donald Trump’s second term—and by his own admission, his assault on the free press is working.
We’ll explain more in a moment. But if you already understand how urgent it is to support progressive, independent media that will never “give up” holding this administration accountable for its lawlessness and chaos, please consider making a $25 contribution to COURIER today. [[link removed] Days]
Here’s the latest:
The DOJ just revoked protections that once shielded journalists from being forced to reveal their sources—clearing the way for the Trump administration to jail reporters over stories it doesn’t like.
As his popularity tanks, Trump is lashing out at pollsters, calling them liars and “fake news,” and doubling down on his lawsuit against Iowa’s most respected pollster, Ann Selzer.
And at CBS News , the damage is already done. A top 60 Minutes producer was pushed out—not for journalistic reasons, but because Paramount, CBS’s parent company, wants Trump’s approval to complete a billion-dollar merger with Skydance.
Trump is gloating. And why wouldn’t he? The country’s most powerful media institutions are folding under pressure.
COURIER won’t.
We’re one of the only growing, grassroots-funded media networks still reporting the truth in battleground states. We’re not chasing clicks, we’re not for sale, and we’re not afraid to speak truth to power.
If you want journalism that doesn’t back down, now’s the time to stand with us. [[link removed] Days]
