Parents Against Vaping is proud to present the next event of our 2025 Clear the Vapor Conversations series:

When Clouds Collide: Vaping and the Teen Mental Health Crisis
📅 Monday, May 19
🕕 7:00 PM ET | 📍Zoom
FREE!

As the youth mental health crisis continues, it’s more important than ever for parents and caregivers to understand the hidden factors fueling it—including the powerful influence of vaping and nicotine addiction.

Join us for an eye-opening webinar featuring Dr. Sarper Taskiran, a nationally-renowned child and adolescent psychiatrist from the Child Mind Institute. In this timely session, Dr. Taskiran will unpack how nicotine affects the developing brain, how it’s connected to increased rates of depression and anxiety in teens, and what families and communities can do to intervene.

With youth who vape more likely to experience mental health challenges—and more likely to begin using nicotine, cannabis and other substances—this conversation will be helpful for any concerned parent, educator, or public health advocate.

Dr. Taskiran brings decades of clinical experience, specializing in ADHD, mood disorders, disruptive behaviors, and the real-world struggles young people face today. He’ll cover:

  • The real impact of vaping and nicotine on the adolescent brain
  • Why youth mental health is closely linked to substance use trends
  • How to recognize warning signs and support teens at home and in school
  • What caregivers and communities can do to turn the tide

🧠 Be sure to submit your questions when you register—Dr. Taskiran will answer them live during a moderated Q&A.

🎥 All registrants will receive a link to the event recording.

Let’s protect our kids together.

Sarper Taskiran, MD, is a senior child and adolescent psychiatrist in the Psychopharmacology Center at the Child Mind Institute with extensive experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders. He has particular expertise in OCD, disruptive behavior disorders, ADHD, and mood disorders in children and adolescents. Dr. Taskiran takes a holistic approach to complex mental health challenges, integrating evidence-based therapies—such as CBT, mindfulness, and mentalization-based treatments—with psychopharmacology. He also has significant experience addressing college mental health concerns. His research on emotion recognition and attentional disorders deepens his insight into disruptive behaviors and adjustment challenges, particularly in school, home, and cross-cultural settings.

Like our previous conferences, the Clear the Vapor Conversations series convenes researchers, public health advocates, and leading experts as they participate in informative discussions held throughout the year. The series addresses a variety of topics including: environmental harms caused by vaping; “creative” vaping cessation ideas; and engaging youth to quit. Each event features a moderated discussion with your questions answered live.
