Message from Congressman Scott Fitzgerald

Good morning, everyone, and happy Tuesday!

I’d like to kick off this week’s eNewsletter with a district highlight on my recent visit to Rock Machinery in Allenton, WI.

Rock Machinery is a proud distributor of heavy industrial equipment. We had a productive conversation about the opportunities and challenges facing local manufacturers, and how federal policy can better support workforce development and growth in the industry. Companies like Rock Machinery are critical in keeping America’s manufacturing strong!

Keep reading on to hear additional updates about what's been happening in Washington and in Wisconsin. I hope you have a great week.

Statement on Pope Francis' Passing and Funeral at St. Peter's Square

Last week, I issued the following statement upon the passing of Pope Francis:

“I join Catholics in Wisconsin and around the world in offering my prayers following the passing of Pope Francis. His papacy left a lasting impact on the faith community and shaped a significant era for the Catholic Church. It was an honor to meet Pope Francis in August of 2023—it is something I will forever remember.

“As the Church enters a period of transition, this is a pivotal moment to reflect on the values and direction that will define its future—one that calls for renewed focus on timeless truths, strong moral leadership, and a clear commitment to the values that have long anchored the faith.”

I was also honored to be invited by Speaker Johnson to be part of the Congressional delegation that attended the funeral of Pope Francis at St. Peter's Square. As a member of the Catholic Church, joining fellow Catholics from around the world in prayer for the soul of Pope Francis was a deeply humbling experience I will never forget. May he be granted eternal rest and rise in glory with Christ.

Met With Milwaukee Valve

I had a fantastic meeting with Milwaukee Valve, headquartered in New Berlin, WI. They’re a leading manufacturer of high-quality valves, supplying thousands of marine valves found on every U.S. aircraft carrier, submarine, destroyer, frigate, and support ship in service today. As China and other adversaries continue to ramp up vessel production, I’m committed to working with my colleagues in Congress to fix America’s shipbuilding shortage and ensure the U.S. remains the world’s most lethal maritime power.

FBI Arrests Wisconsin Judge—Alleging She Obstructed Arrest of Illegal Alien

Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan allegedly helped an illegal alien evade arrest by ICE. This is an egregious abuse of power by someone sworn to uphold the law. No one—especially a judge—should interfere with federal immigration enforcement.
