The Texas Democratic Party is ready to fight for you.
If I could have about a minute of your time, I want to share a clip from an interview I did last week.
If I can be frank with you, it’s time to admit that Democrats haven’t been the best messengers on what we stand for. Where I grew up in east Texas, we were Democrats because we worked for a living — and that is still why I am a Democrat.
Wealth inequality in Texas’ rigged economy is a massive problem. Did you know that there are sixty-six billionaires who control more wealth than 70% of the entire state’s population? — that’s over 25.4 million people.
The question I get asked all the time is: what is the Texas Democratic Party doing to fight back for Texans?
First, we’re continuing this new era with fresh energy, bold leadership, and a renewed commitment to building a political organization that reflects the strength and diversity of our communities.
Our staff is working long hours—organizing volunteers, studying legislation, collecting data, recruiting county chairs, training precinct chairs, and keeping an eye on the Trump administration’s tom foolery. We’re also bringing back a strong emphasis on Spanish-language media and press statements, so our message reaches across the state.
Just last week, the TDP staff and I were at the Capitol alongside our State Legislators fighting Greg Abbott’s voucher scam until 2:30 AM. While we were there, I had the opportunity to personally thank and offer words of encouragement to members of our Democratic Caucus.
We have people testifying against harmful bills, a new off-cycle organizing director, and we’re calling into communities to let folks know: the Texas Democratic Party isn’t waiting for the fight to come to us—we’re taking the fight to Greg Abbott and Donald Trump.
The Texas Democratic Party isn’t just taking punches, we’re throwing them, too.
Your donation is our momentum, and we need it to fight back.
The fight doesn’t end today. It won’t end tomorrow. We’re in this for the long haul, and we are in it for you.
Yours,
Kendall Scudder Chairman, Texas Democratic Party
