Each month we hold Planning Commission meetings and present to the Board of Island County Commissioners on topics relevant to Island County’s 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update. Below are our upcoming meetings and engagement opportunities. Planning Commission The next Planning Commission meeting will be on Wednesday, May 7th at 6pm. Long Range Planning will be presenting on the draft Capital Facilities Element/Plan. The meeting will also include continued conversation on Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) that were presented to the Planning Commission on April 16th, 2025. Meeting materials are available in the agenda center. Board of County Commissioners Long Range Planning will be on the Board’s Regular Session agenda on May 6th to request the scheduling of a public hearing on the development moratorium. The suggested date for the public hearing is June 3, 2025. The establishment of the Keystone Farm and Forest Preserve Special Review District is also on the Board’s May 6 agenda. Long Range Planning also will be presenting to the Board on May 14th on the Capital Facilities Element/Plan. Meeting materials will be available for all of these meetings in the agenda center. Engagement Opportunities Island County Public Works has developed a survey to help with the update of the parks element of the comprehensive plan. This survey will help them understand your opinion and priorities on possible conservation, trail, park, and indoor facility projects and financing of the County's overall park system.
