I grew up during the Cold War. The Berlin Wall fell in my senior year of high school.

Then, I served in the Navy for almost ten years as a helicopter pilot and a Russian policy officer.

I served in places where people got disappeared off the streets for criticizing the regime. Where an offhand comment criticizing the leader landed you in prison.

The Trump administration is taking us down a deeply dangerous path right now, and I refuse to stay silent. 

So I’m speaking out, and continuing to execute on our legislate, litigate, and mobilize strategy. But I believe that one of the most important things we can do is show our dissent at the ballot box — and put Republicans on notice ahead of the midterms.  

We have to send a strong message here in New Jersey.   

That’s doubly true because GOP candidates in the race for New Jersey governor like Jack Ciattarelli aren’t just refusing to speak out against the Trump administration’s draconian actions — they’re promising to bring the MAGA agenda to New Jersey.

And given that the New Jersey governor’s race was decided by just three percentage points in 2021, sitting on the sidelines is off the table. The stakes are just too high. 

So here’s the bottom line: As governor, I’ll always defend the constitutional rights of New Jerseyans. I’ll never back down to a bully. And if you’re just as concerned as I am about the prospect of a Republican governor taking office next year, I need your help right now.
