Dear Friend,

Last week, I asked you to join me in praying a Solemn Novena to Our Lady of Good Counsel that will bring all the deep needs of our Church and our world to Christ through the loving hands of Our Lady. It will also be a time for reflection on our lives and discernment, for the Blessed Mother will illuminate our path.

Our Blessed Mother is always concerned with the affairs of the world, wars, persecutions and most importantly, the Church founded by her Son, Jesus Christ. May her help during this Solemn Novena loosen the bonds that are inhibiting the clergy from speaking about morality and the doctrine of the Church - not just about social justice issues. And may the eyes of those who are called to religious life be opened so that Catholics can set the world on fire. 

You can play a part in this spiritual revival of our Church, a prayerful crusade of Hope, by accepting Cardinal Burke’s invitation to participate in the Solemn Novena to Our Lady of Good Counsel from May 1-9.

May we, above all, obtain from Our Lady the highest “counsel” in all the affairs of our household, which is discernment and enlightenment in making decisions, giving us a vision of Hope that surpasses all challenges.

Surrender them to Our Lady saying: “O Mother, all yours and everything of mine is yours!” 

Will you join Cardinal Burke and myself, invoking Our Lady of Good Counsel to be a teacher and wise counselor in guiding the Church to new heights so that it:

~ may shine as a beacon of Truth and Hope in the world

~ may rediscover the fervor of the early disciples
