Hi friend,

In this edition of the Patriot Weekly, I will be talking about how my team and I are advocating for constituents in the community, the crisis facing food banks in New York and across the country thanks to recent funding cuts, and the continued news of “Signalgate” and how Pete Hegseth’s misuse of national security information is making all of us less safe.

What's going on

Hudson Valley

[link removed] [[link removed]] Amidst the cuts, closures, and chaos of the new administration, people across the Hudson Valley need a forum for their voices to be heard — now more than ever. Whether it be town halls, community speak outs, or one-on-one conversations with me and my team, I’m talking with as many people as I can, as often as possible.

What I’m doing: While my Republican colleagues go into hiding, I’m going to every corner of the district to ensure I’m hearing concerns firsthand. I went to the Village of Maybrook to honor their 100th Anniversary and meet with seniors concerned about the future of Medicare. I talked with folks in Woodstock about threats to the judiciary. I discussed cuts to Head Start with families in LaGrange. I addressed a few hundred people at the Ulster Chamber of Commerce Breakfast to lay out the stakes for our country (and answered questions from all attendees!). Most importantly, I’m taking those conversations with me back to DC — and aggressively making the case to my colleagues that we need to fight even harder on behalf of the people we have the honor to serve.

What you can do: Elevating the stories of folks impacted by Trump’s disastrous policies is crucial, for two main reasons. First — whether it be cuts to Head Start, housing for homeless veterans, or food banks — public pressure is one of our most effective tools in getting people the help they need. And second, because I truly believe that hearing from their neighbors, friends, and family members is necessary to convince the American people that there is another path forward. I’m imploring you to share those stories with me, to share them with your elected representatives, and to share them especially with your Republican friends every single day.New York

Over the last few weeks, I have told you about how the cuts to food programs by the Department of Agriculture are already hurting families here in New York. After I called out the impacts these egregious cuts will have on our community, Secretary Rollins went on Fox News to call the cuts “fake news” and attacked me by name.

What I’m doing: Trump’s cuts at USDA are absolutely devastating for Hudson Valley families. Two million fewer meals in our district alone – that’s our kids, seniors, and veterans going hungry. So this week, I joined local leaders and community members at the Hudson Valley Regional Food Bank to bring attention to these cuts and call on the Trump administration to restore funding immediately. Our Hudson Valley community is standing up with one voice, and we are urging Trump with everything we’ve got to hear our call.

What you can do: The administration is denying that these cuts are even happening, despite shipments to local food banks already being canceled. I have been using every platform available to me to amplify these cuts and highlight the facts. Please consider amplifying my recent post [[link removed]] which showcases headlines regarding the cuts. Communities across the country are going to be feeling the squeeze as food banks that rely on this funding have less resources. I would urge you to look up your local food bank and see how you can best support them during this time.Washington

[link removed] [[link removed]]This week, more information about Pete Hegseth’s reckless misuse of national security information came to light, including that he shared information on the Yemen strikes in a group chat with his wife and personal lawyer. It was also revealed that he has been using Signal to access these chats on his personal computer, connected to an unsecure internet line.

I won’t mince words: This is dangerous and stupid. We need to fire Pete Hegseth before he gets someone killed.

What I’m doing: As a former Army Intelligence Officer, I am deeply disturbed by all the information we have gotten about Pete Hegseth’s approach to national security. I have been doing interviews and using my voice to make sure this topic does not get lost in the news cycle and that the American people understand how this administration is making them less safe.

What you can do: We have to call this out as we see it. Not only are they misusing national security information, but they are turning around and lying to the American people about their actions and how this impacts our lives. I would love your help in amplifying some of my recent news clips on this, like this one [[link removed]] or this one [[link removed]] . I would also encourage you to call your representative and senators and urge them to call for Pete Hegseths’ immediate termination as Defense Secretary.

Going on offense

[link removed] [[link removed]] Last weekend, I joined hundreds of local Patriots in Gardiner to rally for our rights and send a clear message against the egregious actions of the Trump Administration over the last 100 days. This is a moment that requires every single person from every background, Democrats and Republicans, taking a stand. I was proud to stand alongside so many people advocating for their communities. It’s events like this that give me hope about our future, even in the most tumultuous of times.

Keep the faith, keep up the fight, and thank you for reading!

In Solidarity,

Pat
