Today, Olena and her husband are raising their five children — including Oleksii, their 9-year-old son who has Down Syndrome — while also caring for Yurii, an adult with Down Syndrome who had nowhere else to go.
With no steady income, almost everything the family has goes to food and repairing their apartment. Olena spends every hour caring for Oleksii and trying to meet her family’s essential needs. Her husband, now 60, is registered with the employment center but has not been able to secure steady work.
Olena worries deeply about the mental health and education of her two high school-aged daughters, whose schools were forced to close.
Thanks to supporters like you, Project HOPE was able to completely cover Olena's family's heating costs so that they can spend their income on what matters: keeping her children warm, rebuilding their damaged home, and supporting her family's mental health — all essential steps toward a stable, hopeful future. But millions more — children, mothers, siblings, fathers — are in urgent need of medical care and other aid.
Will you help us reach more families in need in Ukraine, Gaza, Myanmar, and wherever the need is greatest with your generous donation today?
