A New World screwworm outbreak in the United States could devastate our livestock industry.
On Saturday, USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins issued a letter to the Mexican government warning that the United States will halt all animal imports from Mexico if they do not begin to cooperate with us to stop the spread of the New World screwworm.
This was the right call, and I appreciate Secretary Rollins making this issue a priority. We must invest in eradication efforts—I will continue to fight for our farmers and ranchers through my seat on the House Appropriations Committee.
