John –
Last week, I joined Sen. Jeff Merkley for town hall events across the state – with hundreds of Oregonians turning up to make their voices heard.
Through stops in Coos, Curry, and Douglas counties, folks were enthused, passionate, and rightly, mad.
Just about everyone is worried about how Trump's shaky economy will affect their livelihoods. Fishers are extremely concerned about tariffs that will affect their bottom line. Consumers are facing increased prices for everyday goods and groceries. Many workers are suddenly feeling like their jobs are less secure than they were before.
Some Republicans in Congress are running scared from town halls, thinking they can slide into re-election without much to show for their time in Congress. This time is different.
For my entire career – as a State Representative, as the state Labor Commissioner, and now as a Congresswoman – I've been trying to make life easier for working families. I've stood my ground and not wavered on my principles. I will never run away from tough conversations with my colleagues or my constituents.
What I heard from folks across the state confirmed that they want to ensure they can take care of their families, save for the future, and depend upon things like Social Security, Medicare, or even just the Post Office, when they need them.
I've been uplifted by the folks I spoke to last week and the peaceful demonstrations across the country earlier this month. Americans are scared of the direction we're heading, and they didn't vote for economic instability or Trump's authoritarian gestures.
It's time to push forward because we cannot let our momentum dissipate. Your contribution means we can retain this competitive seat and flip the House to a Democratic majority again. Can you chip in today?
