Black mothers face significantly higher risks during pregnancy and childbirth than their white counterparts, and it’s a crisis born of racism, neglect, and deliberate underinvestment in healthcare systems that are supposed to care for everyone.

Last week was Black Maternal Health Week, an annual campaign led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance, where leaders across the country demanded urgent action. They’re calling on their colleagues to wake up, step up, and take real steps to address this deadly injustice.

At Groundwork Project PAC, we stand with these lawmakers and the healthcare professionals fighting every day to save Black lives. We’re working to keep up the pressure and bring change where it’s needed most — in underserved communities across the South, Appalachia, and the Plains — but we need your help.
